Saturday,
Day 1. We meet at 9:30am at the HOTEL REGINA**** PARIS
We have been working
closely with the Hôtel Régina for many years. It is an elegantly
appointed, traditional hotel with a beautiful Art Nouveau lobby, 116
rooms and suites. The Régina is ideally located next to the Tuileries
gardens and close to the Louvre.

Train
transfer to Nancy (alternate weeks to Strasbourg) where our coach
takes you to the boat moored in the village of Lagarde..
Welcoming cocktail on board. Dinner on board. Cruising through
the Parc Naturel de
Lorraine, a national nature reserve and an area of outstanding natural
beauty, to Gondrexange.

Sunday,
Day 2
Tour of Nancy, the elegant capital of Lorraine: beautiful Place
Stanislas and the superb Art Nouveau on display at the School of Nancy
Museum. We return to the Lorraine for further cruising on the lovely
Marne-Rhine Canal tothe quiet village of Niderviller.The canal winds
its way up to the Plateau of Lorraine where we cross several lakes
teeming with birdlife on the way to Niderviller. Dinner on
board. |
Monday,
Day 3
Excursion to a crystal factory and workshop. Cruising along the
higher level of the canal followed by transfer by the famous Arzviller
barge lift down the mountainside bypassing 17 locks in the process.
Morring in the picturesque town of Saverne in sight of the splendid
red sandstone Rohan Palace. Dinner on board. |
Tuesday,
Day 4
Excursion to Sarrebourg to admire the Cordeliers Chapel and Chagall's
beautiful stained Glass window. Cruising past typical Alsace villages
and many locks with ample opportunities for cycling and walking.
Mooring at the village of Hochfelden. Dinner on board. |

Wednesday,
Day 5
Cruise to the charming village of Waltenheim. Day trip to captivating
colmar, birthplace of Bartholdi (sculptor of the 'Statue of Liberty),
the Unterlinden Museum (Grunewalds magnificent Isenheim Altarpiece),
and the Old Town. Lunch in a traditional Alsace restaurant
followed by a drive along the fabled wine road. We call in at
Riquewihr, the epitome of an Alsace wine village, with time to enjoy
wine tasting. Dinner on board.

Thursday,
Day 6
Pleasant morning cruise to Strasbourg where we glide past the European
Parliament. After lunch, we visit Strasbourg, one of the most
architecturally compelling of all French cities: the bewitching
medieval Petite France district, the soaring splendor of the pink
sandstone cathedral. Farewell gala dinner on board. |

Friday,
Day 7
After breakfast, coach transfer to Strasbourg (alternate weeks Nancy)
and return by train to Paris Gare de I'Est, arriving at 1:54 p.m.
|
The route is run in reverse on
alternate weeks. Excursions/mooring places and the route may be modified without
prior notification due to unforeseen circumstances.
